The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy ®
What is ATMAT?
The Arvigo technique of Maya Abdominal Therapy® is rooted in ancient healing practices of the Mayans and passed down to us through a Belizean traditional healer, Don Elijio Panti and recorded by Dr. Rosita Arvigo. It blends science and ancient tradition to support the body’s innate healing capabilities. The technique addresses the position of pelvic and abdominal organs and improves function by releasing physical, emotional and energetic congestion.
How is it performed?
It is a gentle massage that is performed on the abdomen and back in a slow and intentional manner. Hands-on work to the pelvis, back, hips and sacral area correct imbalances. This helps guide internal digestive and reproductive organs into their proper alignment. This also aids in softening deep tissue, releasing fascia, tension in the diaphragm and muscular structure.
How is it effective?
The therapy is beneficial for men, women and children. It corrects poor blood/lymph flow in the abdomen and the organs vital to digestion, assimilation, elimination and reproduction. It addresses adhesions and positioning of the sacrum, pelvic and abdominal region.
